This year I will work at a young life camp in Minnesota, Castaway Club as the waterfront intern. I will be there for a little over 3 months. Then I will travel to Florence, Italy for a semester abroad. I won't come back until December. I can't wait to see what the Lord has planned for me.

Good Day
Hey family and friends. So week two is off to a pretty good start. I'm connecting really well with my new summer staff and starting to learn a lot more about the interns I'm working with which is pretty sweet. It's been hot and sunny the past week so nothing to complain about there. I think Castaway has become one of my favorite places because it's just such a peaceful and beautiful place with such a fantastic community. It's easy to forget about real life here and just enjoy people's company. I just started reading Redeeming Love and it's a pretty intense book but I'm intrigued. Today was one of those days where I just really missed my family back home. I'm with great people but it's only for 3 months and I just miss having people who've known me my whole life aka Mom, Dad, Jake, and Jordan around. I got to talk to Jake and Jordan tonight which was great, both are doing fantastic and I guess they are coming to stay at my grandparents lakehouse in about 3 weeks so I cannot wait to see them all and show them Castaway. I'm off to bed now, one of the Work Crew bosses is a crossfit trainer and has been running a training session every morning so I'm going to try to go to one tomorrow morning. Peace & Love.

Beautiful July Day
I'm looking outside my window and just appreciating how amazing the day is. It's the beginning of July and at the end of a day on the beach. It was a stressful day but I feel great now and am loving the beautiful weather with the sun shining and the birds chirping. I just appreciate how amazing this place is that I'm living. The community is spectacular and the interns are my favorite. I'm gonna go enjoy the day. Love, Jess

Second Session Night One!
Session 1 is officially over and they were an incredible first session to have. I love each and every one of my summer staffers and the A team. It ended on a high note with the thunderstorm and massive downpour of rain so we all ran out and just celebrated a great month together dancing around in the rain. Now they've all left and the second session crew is here. We've been training for the past 3 days and the new group of campers came this afternoon. I was so lucky to have a group who absorbed all the information I gave them in such a short amount of time and did really well on there first day. I miss the first session but I have a great second session crew to start July off with. I'm pretty tired at the moment because today was really hot and it's been nothing but training but I'm getting a lot of rest still. Luckily I still have my fellow interns with me who are going through the exact same stuff I am so we have each other to get through the changeover. I didn't really get to celebrate the fourth of July because we've been working with this new group and tonight is the obstacle course for the campers so I won't be done until about 10:30 pm but fireworks should be going off so I'll get to see some. Also while we were training the new boat drivers, a boat parade went by and it was pretty cute to see. I finished the Ragamuffin Gospel which was a pretty incredible book and have now started on The Shack. It might be one of my favorite books because it presents such a unique view on the holy trinity. I'm really enjoying it. I can't believe I have been here 7 weeks and now only have 7 weeks left, time is flying by. Time to set up for O course!
